Artist Statement

Our planet is being destroyed. We take her for granted. Within the context of her time we are here but for a blink of an eye. Within the context of our time, I want to tell her story, but for a blink of an eye.

The Birth & Death of Gaia utilizes the allegory of a Greek Mythology, personifying Gaia as Mother Nature who gives birth to the entire ecosystem of the planet Earth including man, only to witness man give rise to her destruction through greed, pollution and war, until finally the planet is destroyed. But even then, when all is a lost, a ray of hope lingers.

As an artist, I am interested in the intersection between the basic elements of photography, line, value and form, and the way they can be utilized to create visual harmony while depicting a narrative.
